How bookkeepers can give clients a live view of their numbers (QuickBooks and Xero)

Cut monthly report requests: give each client, and their bank or investors, a live read-only view of their QuickBooks Online or Xero numbers.

Updated

Every month the same messages arrive: Can you send this month's numbers? The bank needs the balance sheet. My investor wants a sales update. Each one means an export, a PDF and an email, and none of it is billable.

Why clients ask you instead of logging in

Most business owners have access to their own QuickBooks or Xero, and many never use it. The interface is built for bookkeeping, not for a quick "how are we doing?" Their bank, investors and managers usually shouldn't have a login at all. So every request goes through you.

What the native tools give you

  • QuickBooks Online: clients can be users; Reports only users (Plus and Advanced) see the company's reports broadly; finer limits need Advanced.
  • Xero: unlimited users, but roles cover the whole organisation; a Read only user sees almost everything.

Neither gives you a simple way to hand a client's bank only the balance sheet, or their investor only sales.

A live client view, set up in minutes

With Vizii, the bookkeeper is the user and clients are the viewers:

  1. Connect each client's QuickBooks Online or Xero once and switch between clients from one login.
  2. Invite the owner to a live, read-only dashboard of their business. No accounting login needed.
  3. Invite their stakeholders with their own scope: the bank sees Assets and Liabilities, the investor sees Sales and Purchases, a branch manager sees one location.
  4. Stop rebuilding reports. The views update from the books, so "send me the numbers" becomes "it's in your dashboard".
45-second walkthrough: give each client a live, read-only view of their Xero or QuickBooks numbers, and let their bank or investor see only what they need.

What it changes for the practice

  • Fewer ad-hoc requests and less unbillable time.
  • A client-facing service you can package, as part of a monthly fee or an advisory tier.
  • Cleaner security: stakeholders never hold credentials to a client's books, and access can be removed instantly.

FAQ

Is each client billed separately? Each connected client company is its own entity in Vizii. See Pricing for plans and seat limits.

Do my clients' stakeholders need a QuickBooks or Xero login? No. They sign in to Vizii with a secure email link and see only their scope.

Does it work for both Xero and QuickBooks clients? Yes. Mix both in one login.
